About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Director to join our Life Sciences Strategy & Intelligence practice. This senior leadership role is responsible for guiding client engagements, developing team capabilities, and shaping the strategic direction of our work.

This is a true player-coach role; you will lead team development and drive delivery streamlining initiatives while staying close enough to the work to shape insights, strengthen deliverables, and guide high-priority analyses. They elevate the quality of insights, ensure operational excellence, and serve as trusted advisors to both clients and internal teams.

This role requires a deep understanding of how pharmaceutical and biotech organizations leverage competitive intelligence to inform strategic and tactical decisions, along with the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights that drive impact.

This Role May Be a Strong Fit If You Are

  • A Senior Manager, Associate Director, Director, Principal, or similar-level professional in life sciences consulting seeking a more balanced, sustainable consulting environment, or
  • A pharma/biotech professional in competitive intelligence, commercial insights, strategic insights, market research, new product planning, or portfolio strategy who would enjoy consulting advisory work with clients in various therapeutic areas and stages of development.

What You Will Do

Lead Pharma, Biotech, and Medical Device Strategy Engagements

  • Provide senior oversight across multiple life sciences client engagements, focusing on pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device strategy and insights.
  • Guide teams in analyzing therapeutic areas, market dynamics, product launches, lifecycle events, clinical development activity, competitor movement, and commercial implications.
  • Ensure client work is grounded in a strong understanding of how pharma, biotech, and medical device organizations use insights to make strategic and tactical decisions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on complex business questions, helping clients understand not just what is happening in the market, but what it means for their business.

Drive Competitive Intelligence and Strategic Insights

  • Lead and elevate competitive intelligence, strategic insights, market intelligence, and research-driven strategy work across client engagements.
  • Help teams identify the most important competitor actions, market shifts, clinical developments, risks, and opportunities affecting client decisions.
  • Bring depth in competitive intelligence methodology, strategic research design, and insight generation to ensure deliverables are not simply informational, but decision-oriented.
  • Act as a therapeutic area and competitive intelligence subject matter expert, serving as a sounding board for Client Engagement Managers, Analysts, and project teams.

Turn Complex Information into Clear Recommendations

  • Elevate team outputs by sharpening the “so what” and connecting findings to client business priorities, strategic choices, risks, and recommended next steps.
  • Synthesize complex clinical, scientific, commercial, market, and competitor information into clear, concise, and compelling insights.
  • Translate intelligence into executive-level narratives tailored to commercial, medical, market access, brand, business development, and senior leadership audiences.

Serve as a Senior Client Advisor

  • Serve as a senior thought partner and escalation point for client stakeholders across multiple engagements.
  • Lead or support client meetings, strategic discussions, workshops, competitive strategy sessions, and scenario planning exercises.
  • Help clients interpret intelligence, evaluate strategic options, and move from information to action.
  • Support business development in a consultative way, including proposal development, pitch participation, opportunity shaping, and identifying ways to expand value for existing clients.

Lead as a Player-Coach

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Client Engagement Managers, Analysts, and project team members while remaining close enough to the work to shape insights and strengthen deliverables.
  • Provide hands-on guidance in complex, ambiguous, or high-priority workstreams, including research design, insight generation, analysis, and deliverable development.
  • Review team outputs for quality, logic, structure, strategic relevance, and executive readiness.
  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative team environment through coaching, feedback, structured development, and clear quality expectations.

Strengthen Delivery, Quality, and Innovation

  • Drive delivery and operational excellence across engagements, including project structuring, resourcing, workflow management, timelines, and quality control.
  • Continuously refine internal processes, methodologies, templates, and standards to improve consistency, efficiency, and client impact.
  • Champion innovation in competitive intelligence and strategic insights delivery through thoughtful use of AI, automation, data tools, and new deliverable formats.
  • Help Sedulo scale high-quality strategic work while maintaining the judgment, nuance, and polish clients expect.
